Committee to hold news conference on report on poverty, housing and homelessness

OTTAWA (December 7, 2009) – Senators Art Eggleton and Hugh Segal will be holding a news conference on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 to discuss recommendations to address the distressing findings of a study on poverty, housing and homelessness by the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology, Subcommittee on Cities

The Committee heard testimony from more than 170 witnesses, including people living in poverty, several of them homeless, as well as universities, think tanks, provincial and local governments and civil society organizations.  The report is based on a two-year, cross-country study.
